The Red Hat Secure Development team is looking for an Intern passionate about cybersecurity and software development. In this role, you will work with a team of talented Security Automation engineers that partner and empower Red Hat organizations and teams to seamlessly scale our Secure Development practices. You will work on contributing towards solutions and tools that help us to automate and optimize the execution of our processes across different systems and domains within Red Hat.

 

As an Intern, you will be assigned a mentor and a direct manager for the duration of the internship, they will assist you in anything that you require assistance with, from engineering to personnel issues. You will have free access to the acclaimed Red Hat University courses and LinkedIn Learning. You will attend all the same training events and presentations as that of a full-time employee, you will be encouraged to share your knowledge and experience as any other team member during talks and knowledge sharing sessions.

 

This long-term internship will give you the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge about Red Hat’s business and the open source culture. This is a great opportunity to join a dynamic and culturally diverse team in a passionate and fun work environment.

What you will do

  • Contribute from design to deployment of different solutions, driving automation for our security practices. Our team works with technologies such as Openshift, Python, SQL and noSQL databases.
  • Learn how to use and integrate different security scanning applications used by our Engineering teams to secure their software. 
  • Engage in team innovation strategy by researching and evaluating new technologies and tools (like Artificial Intelligence)  that can enhance the automation capability of our security practices.
  • Learn to collaborate with other engineers across Red Hat in an open and inclusive environment.
  • Work both on your own, remotely, and collaboratively with others in your team.
  • Possibility to contribute to the open-source community.

What you will bring

  • Understanding of scripting and programming with languages such as Golang, or Python, and the ability to learn new ones; all are not required.
  • Interest in configuration management and automation tools, as well as containerization technologies.
  • Relevant knowledge in computer science/engineering, being passionate about cybersecurity. For example:
    • Interest in a DevSecOps approach to development practices and how this can be integrated into existing projects
    • Participation in Capture the Flag
    • Interested in security projects such as OWASP in particular OWASP Top 10
    • Understanding of Information Security Principles - confidentiality, integrity and availability.
  • Genuine interest in areas like Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and willingness to gain in-depth learning in this field.
  • A basic understanding of Linux operating systems.
  • Collaboration skills and dedication as a teammate.
  • Good communication skills in English. 
  • Must be currently enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor's degree or in a Master's degree in an accredited university program in the Czech Republic and must be able to go to Brno office on regular basis
